Despite progress on gender equality in the workplace, a significant gap remains between men’s and women’s pensions across the EU. According to Eurostat, women aged 65 and over receive pensions that are on average 24.5% lower than men’s. The disparity reflects lower lifetime earnings, more part-time work, and career breaks for caregiving. It also has real consequences: women over 65 face a higher risk of poverty than men in most EU countries.
