Nature is truly a marvelous thing. The world around us is filled with vibrant natural color that can astonish and inspire. Aside from flora, nature is filled with lizards, birds, and fish that often sport shocking colors. But in comparison, most mammals are quite drab and dull.

Many species from the mammal kingdom feature brown or black fur, but why don’t they have more exotic colors? Why are purple, neon pink, yellow, and (very rarely) blue reserved for other species? Click on to find out.
