Ever feel like your ZIP code is doing a number on your blood pressure? To find out where Americans are actually chilling versus just surviving, WalletHub analyzed all 50 states using 40 key stress indicators.
The study evaluated factors ranging from average weekly work hours and personal bankruptcy rates to the percentage of adults getting enough sleep. To identify the most and least stressed states, researchers evaluated four main categories: work, money, family, and health and safety. Each metric was scored on a 100-point scale, where higher scores indicate greater pressure.
