Jesus lived and taught in the first century, around 27–30 CE, traveling through the Roman-controlled regions of Judea and Galilee. At this time, men held most positions of public authority, and social expectations limited women's independence and influence.
It was within this setting that Jesus began teaching, healing, and interacting with women in ways that frequently challenged the assumptions of his age. However, the word "feminist" would not exist for another eighteen centuries.
