The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) is an annual report published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) that systematically ranks and measures the impact of terrorism across 163 countries, covering 99.7% of the world's population. The recently published GTI 2026
provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in terrorism over the last two decades.
The report's contents include a detailed survey of terrorism activity in 2025. It examines the four deadliest terrorist groups and their affiliates currently operating around the world, and lists the top 10 countries most impacted by terrorism.
In this gallery, we summarize these findings and rank in descending order the nations indicated by the GTI as having the highest impact of terrorism in 2025. Click on to continue reading.
