The United Nations relies on financial support from its member states to carry out international operations across the globe. Funding comes in the form of mandatory contributions for core administrative and peacekeeping budgets, alongside voluntary donations directed toward specific agencies and humanitarian programs.
A country's mandatory contribution is calculated based on gross national income, debt levels, and per capita income. Voluntary contributions allow governments to direct resources toward areas such as global health, disaster response, environmental protection, and food security.
