NASA and the United States Geological Survey have launched a new interactive tool that allows users to spell out their names using real satellite imagery from space.

The platform, called “Your Name in Landsat,” was released to mark Earth Day on April 22, and draws on more than 50 years of images captured by NASA’s Landsat satellites. The system matches natural features such as rivers, mountains, and glaciers to letters of the alphabet, creating a personalized sequence based on real locations around the world.

Users can enter their name or short words and generate a unique set of images via this website, each linked to a specific place on Earth. The creations can be downloaded for free, offering a creative way to explore satellite photography and the planet’s landscapes.

These kinds of images highlight how powerful satellite technology has become, capturing Earth in remarkable detail from orbit.
