Jinny Lu was found in a shack in the mountains of South Korea and adopted four years ago. Now, she visits elementary schools with other fellow rescue pugs to teach children about the importance of adopting pets. She also visits hospice patients and residents in memory care facilities.
Her owner, Michelle Grady, received US$5,000 (€4,312) and a trip to New York, where they will appear together on NBC’s 'Today' show.
The World's Ugliest Dog Contest is an event held annually in California. Even if it sounds a bit cruel, this competition is not about making fun of the dogs. Rather, it's about honoring the unique traits of our canine friends.
For dogs, beauty is not always the most important factor. Just think of some of the most popular breeds! From the Pug to the French Bulldog, it's often the funny-looking creatures that are most loved. A grubby mutt with a crooked tongue may be the underdog elsewhere, but in this competition he is the top dog!
