Tips for introducing news pets
- Whether you're introducing a new dog to a resident cat or the other way around, introducing them properly is key. American Humane suggests you take the following four steps.

1. Choose proper location
- You shouldn't take your pet to meet the new one at the shelter. The introduction should take place at home.

2. Separate the animals - In the span of a few days, rotate which animal has freedom and which will be confined. Once the dog is calm and the cat is calm, eating and using the litter box normally, you can proceed to the next step.

3. Leashed interactions - Keep the dog securely leashed and allow the cat to roam. Do this process until the animals are calm and comfortable. If one becomes aggressive, go back to step 2 and try again later.
