In Botswana’s wetlands, a protective mother elephant charged tourists in a canoe safari on September 27, after they drifted too close to her calves, overturning boats and shoving a floundering woman underwater.
The woman was briefly submerged before being rescued, and escaped without serious injury. The incident reignited concerns about wildlife tour safety and the ongoing human encroachment on elephants, whose only true predator is humans.
