If she were alive today, Princess Diana would have two new daughter-in-laws, and now five grandchildren!
Prince Harry has welcomed his second child with Meghan Markle, and the pair have named their daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. A spokesperson for the couple announced on June 6 that the child was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, and added, “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
Meghan and Harry also said in a message posted on their Archewell charity website that their daughter "is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."
Following the announcement, Buckingham Palace issued a statement congratulating the pair: "The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” If Lady Di were alive, she would surely be honored to see the legacy of her name passed down.
Though Princess Diana died over 20 years ago, both of her sons have kept her memory burning bright. From their weddings to charity work, find out how the legacy of the "People's Princess" lives on through her sons.
