The world's most famous doll was first introduced in 1959, by a southern California toy company called Mattel, Inc. Ruth Handler, who co-founded Mattel with her husband Elliot, spearheaded the introduction of the doll all those years ago, and just how Barbie looks so good in her sixties is simply another one of her fitness secrets we’ll never know.
As it turns out, there's a lot of things you probably don't know about the "ultimate American girl"—like her full name, or the worst piece of advice she ever gave girls. Even today, people are confused about if Barbie is bisexual or not, as photos surfaced from 2017 in which she's with another female doll wearing ‘Love Wins’ t-shirts—an LGBTQ+ slogan. Unfortunately, the other doll in the picture is actually a doll version of popular fashion blogger Song of Style, Aimee Song, who created the t-shirts that the Barbie Instagram was promoting.
