According to recent findings published by scientists at the Tokyo University of Agriculture, the well-known practice of forest bathing may significantly improve physical health. The results of the study show that engaging in forest bathing may help lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation.

Researchers observed two groups of participants—one based in an urban environment and the other in a forest setting. Both groups followed identical routines, sleep schedules, and diets. The forest bathing group experienced improved blood pressure, indicating better heart health, along with reduced levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation.

These findings are especially important given the ever-present impact of stress on both physical and mental health. Indeed, stress has long been recognized as a major contributor to numerous health issues, from high blood pressure to depression. While traditional remedies like exercise and sleep are commonly recommended, a fascinating practice from Japan has emerged as an effective form of stress relief.

Forest bathing, a mindful practice of immersing oneself in nature, is gaining attention for its powerful health benefits. Indeed, studies have shown that walking through woodlands can calm the mind, improve mood, and even provide long-term healing effects. In fact, experts like Kathy Willis, a professor of biodiversity, talk about the "direct link between your sense of sight and recovery rate," and argue that this practice could become a legitimate part of medical treatment, offering an alternative to traditional therapies.
