Invented by an American woman, Vesta Stoudt, in 1943, it serves as an all-purpose emergency adhesive fixing anything from leaky pipes to taping down the hoods of automobiles. It's even been used in space, when it helped save the lives of the Apollo 13 astronauts! In fact, there's not much this fantastically versatile material can't fix.
