The Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, postponed from 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, are due to take place from July 8 to August 8, 2021. However, there is still a risk that the Games could fall foul of the pandemic for a second time. But that hasn't stopped the Olympic flame from being ignited in the hope that the world's most celebrated global sports event will go ahead as rescheduled.
