Parks in urban areas are, in some cities, only available to those in a higher social-economic bracket. However, they’re effective in reducing heat, carbon emissions, and social issues. They’re also proven to have staggering effects on mental and physical health. The number of parks in urban areas affects life expectancy and child mortality, for instance.

The reason that most cities don’t have enough parks is simple: short-term monetary gains. But the positive effects of having more parks in cities are astonishing, and can't be ignored.
