A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk at a Utah university. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, has been arrested this September 12. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that a family member helped turn Robinson in, thanking the family for “doing the right thing.”
President Donald Trump said in a Fox News interview earlier on the same day that “with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” praising law enforcement and state officials for their efforts. He added that he hoped the suspect would be found guilty and face the death penalty.
Kirk, an American political activist, was shot and killed on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University. He was 31.
Assassination attempts have been carried out since antiquity, and not everyone has been so lucky as to survive. Just look at how many Roman emperors fell victim to the sword, knife, or poison.
