Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker) -

Richard Ramirez, dubbed the Night Stalker, was a murderer and rapist who terrorized Los Angeles in the 1980s. He was caught in 1985, and a magazine editor named Doreen Lioy started writing to him. Despite the fact that Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders and many sexual assaults, Lioy told CCN, "He's kind, he's funny, he's charming. I think he's really a great person. He's my best friend; he's my buddy."

Lioy became interested in Ramirez after watching the trial. Friends say she was instantly attracted to him and believed he was innocent. They carried on a relationship through letters and visits for more than 10 years and got married in 1996. They remained married until he was executed in 2013, although some say they unofficially separated a few years before that.

Ted Bundy -

Ted Bundy is one of the most infamous and prolific serial killers in history, confirmed to have taken more than 30 lives. He met a woman named Carole Ann Boone while they were both working at the Washington State Department, helping in the search for several missing women he'd killed... They started dating in 1979 when Bundy was on trial for the murder of two women.

Ted Bundy - Bundy pulled a stunt during the trial in which he proposed to Boone in the courtroom. The law states that a couple can declare themselves married in the presence of a judge and have it be legally binding, so they did it on the spot! They stayed together for almost a decade afterward. Boone was convinced of his innocence. She gave birth to their daughter, Rosa Bundy, in 1981, after allegedly having sex in the visitor's room during her trips to the prison.

Boone divorced Bundy in 1986, a few years before he was executed. It's believed she felt betrayed once he had finally confessed to all of his crimes and was angry that he was writing to other women.

Susan Atkins -

The obsession with female killers was rife as far back as the 1960s when the Manson murders took place. Susan Atkins was one of Charles Manson's followers who took part in the series of murders he orchestrated in 1969. She was also known as Sadie Mae Glutz, and the media dubbed her "Sexy Sadie."

Atkins began a relationship with a man named Donald Lee Laisure while she was serving her life sentence. He claimed to be a millionaire. They got married in 1981, but Atkins had it annulled upon learning he wasn't as rich as he claimed to be.

Atkins got married again in 1987. Her second husband was a Harvard law student named James Whitehouse who was 15 years younger than her. They stayed together until her death in 2009.

Charles Denton "Tex" Watson -

Tex Watson was another of Charles Manson's disciples. He was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder, including the famous Tate/LaBianca murders. However, Watson reportedly found God a few years after his incarceration. He even became an ordained minister.

Watson started a relationship with a woman named Kristin Joan Svege and they got married in 1979. They had four children together while he was in prison! However, conjugal visits for those serving life sentences were later banned by the California Department of Corrections. They divorced in 2003.

Although Charles Manson didn't directly take part in the murders, he is still considered one of the most famous serial killers in history through his influence over the 'Manson family.' When he was 80 years old and in prison, he and his 26-year-old admirer Elaine “Star” Burton were granted a marriage license.

He died a few years later without getting hitched, some say due to interference from prison officials. Others say it was because Burton had ulterior motives. Namely, securing the rights to his corpse so she could display it for profit after his death.

Kenneth Bianchi (The Hillside Strangler) -

Kenneth Bianchi was one of two men responsible for the Hillside Strangler murders in Los Angeles in the 1970s. He convinced an admirer named Veronica Compton to give false testimony on his behalf at his trial. They carried on a relationship after he was convicted.

Compton was arrested attempting to strangle a woman, allegedly under the guidance of Bianchi from prison. He had even smuggled some of his semen out of the prison with her so she could leave it at the crime scene. Compton was convicted, and Bianchi later married a woman named Shirlee Joyce Book. She allegedly wrote love letters to Ted Bundy before moving on to Bianchi.

Angelo Buono (The Hillside Strangler) -

Angelo Buono was Kenneth Bianchi's cousin and his partner in the Hillside Strangler murders. He too found love behind bars after his conviction. He met Christine Kizuka when she was visiting her incarcerated husband who stayed in the cell next to Buono's for a few months.

It's reported that the prison guards tried to emphasize the brutality of Buono's crimes to Kizuka, which included torture and sexual assault, but she married him in 1986. They stayed married until he died in 2002.

The Menendez brothers -

Lyle and Erik Menendez were the sons of wealthy Californian couple Kitty and Jose Menendez. In 1989, the brothers shot and killed both of their parents in their family home. During the trial, they testified that they had suffered years of sexual abuse at the hands of their father, which led them to the murder. The media angle was that two greedy rich kids killed their parents for their money.

Their trials went on for seven years and caused a huge media frenzy. Both brothers had many admirers. Lyle Menendez got married twice. First to a model named Anna Erikkson, who divorced him because he was writing to other women. His second and current wife is magazine editor Rebecca Sneed.

His younger brother, Erik Menendez, got married to a woman named Tammi Saccoman in 1999. They got married in the waiting room of Folsom Prison, and Saccoman later said that their wedding cake was a Twinkie.

Phillip Carl Jablonski -

Phillip Carl Jablonski was an American serial killer who murdered five women over two decades. He was charged with the torture and murder of his girlfriend in 1978. While in prison, he married a woman named Carol Spadoni. He was released in 1990, and in 1991 he murdered Spadoni and her mother. He continued his killing spree and was back in prison before the end of the year.

Norwegian musician Varg Vikernes was the man behind the successful black metal band Burzum. He was an outspoken anti-Semite and Satanist and was arrested for burning multiple churches. More importantly, he murdered fellow musician Øsytein "Euronymous" Aarseth, from the famous metal band Mayhem.

Vikernes had plenty of fans before his crimes, and unfortunately, gained a few more afterward. While in prison for his crimes, he met and married a French woman named Marie Cachet.

Cachet and Vikernes moved to France when he was released after serving 15 years. They lived in the house pictured here with their children, but were both arrested in 2013 under suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack. Vikernes was found guilty of inciting racial hatred against Jews and Muslims.

Oscar Ray Bolin, also known as the 'Bolin butcher,' was convicted for the murder and sexual assault of three women in 1987. He met his new wife under the strangest of circumstances.

Rosalie Martinez was the wife of a prominent attorney and was herself a public defender. She met Bolin when she was assigned to his case, and apparently they fell in love. She stated that she had no doubt of his innocence. She left her husband and lost her job when prison guards caught her behaving in an unprofessional manner with Bolin in his cell... They were married over the phone in 1996.

Joanna Dennehy went on a 10-day killing spree in England in 2013, murdering three men. She is one of only three women in British history to be sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole.

Dennehy (pictured) met her fiancé, Hayley Palmer, while in prison. Palmer was serving a 16-year sentence and has since been released. She is reportedly trying to obtain a marriage license, and the pair want to be married as soon as possible.

Scott Watson was charged with murdering two young partygoers in New Zealand on their way home from a New Year's Eve event in 1998. Watson stayed in touch with a woman names Coral Branch, who claimed to have known him before his incarceration. They stayed in contact through letters and visits and got married in 2004.
