On June 12, a Boeing 787 operated by Air India crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The flight, headed to London, went down in the Meghani area of the city, sending thick black smoke into the air and prompting a rapid emergency response.
Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft was carrying over 240 people, including crew, out of a total capacity of about 300. Officials have yet to confirm the number of casualties.
While investigations are still underway, the crash serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that persist in air travel.
