Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24 has had the world on the edge of its seat, hoping that the conflict will end as soon as possible and Russia will turn back, especially given the Russian Federation's failure to capture and hold the Donbas region or the city of Kharkiv. Sadly, Russia shows no sign of stepping back, and as recently as May 12 the country has threatened another neighboring state, Finland, who has announced their plans to join NATO. Read on for a brief rundown of the current conflict caused by Russia, its context, and where its place is in the story of international Russian intervention.
