At least six people were killed and at least nine were injured at a bus stop in a northern suburb of Jerusalem on the morning of September 8. Two assailants opened fire on people waiting at the stop and at a bus itself before being shot dead after an IDF soldier and an armed civilian returned fire.
Israeli officials blamed the attack on two Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, and the IDF is already carrying out raids in the territory in response. However, at this time, no group has claimed responsibility for it. But Hamas has issued an official statement, saying that the shooting was “a natural response to the crimes of the occupation and the genocide it wages against our people.”
