Two people were killed and more than a dozen injured after a gunman opened fire outside a beer garden in Austin, Texas, in the early hours of March 1. Police say the suspect first shot at people from an SUV before exiting the vehicle with a rifle and walking toward the bar. Officers on patrol in the busy nightlife district confronted and shot him dead. The death toll stands at three, including the attacker. Of the 14 people taken to hospital, three were reported to be in critical condition.
The FBI’s San Antonio field office said there were “indicators” suggesting a possible link to terrorism, such as the perpetrator wearing a T-shirt saying "Property of Allah," though officials stressed that the investigation remains in its early stages and no motive has been confirmed.
