The squirrel is perhaps the cutest and most charismatic critter in the rodent family. They're wild but live in close proximity to humans in many national and city parks, becoming accustomed to our comings and goings and even getting close enough to feed. Their inquisitive natures and acrobatic prowess endear them to many, but their crafty scavenging and overpopulation have given them a rather pesky reputation among others. However, their introduction to high society in places like Central Park was orchestrated by humans, so perhaps they deserve a break!
Squirrels are impressively adaptable and demonstrate some truly fascinating behaviors. Curious? Click through the following gallery to learn more about these nutty little survivors.
