Mutinies have taken place since antiquity. Defined as a forcible or passive resistance to lawful authority, one of the most recent examples of a mutiny was the late Yevgeny Prigozhin's advance on Moscow in defiance of Russian president Vladimir Putin's iron-hand authority. Yet it's not the most famous act of disobedience. That honor belongs to the 1789 mutiny on the Bounty. But throughout history there have been insurrections, rebellions, and revolts of equal significance and of similar dire consequence.
