Sixty-one years ago on August 28, 1963, a whopping 250,000 people converged on the US capital to take part in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This historic event remains one of the defining moments of the 1960s, made more so by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s celebrated "I Have a Dream" speech. Today, images from that momentous occasion still evoke powerful emotions. They also remind us that while great progress has been made in addressing inequality and discrimination in American society, there's still quite a long way to go before King's dream is fully realized.
