Even though we're in the 21st century, sadly, equality for LGBTQ+ people around the world has a long way to go. In fact, being part of the LGBTQ+ community can often mean a prison sentence, or even death. While over 30 countries around the world have legalized same-sex marriage and about as many allow for joint adoption by same-sex couples, same-sex sexual activity is still illegal in over 60 countries.
