Murderers

DNA testing has finally solved a decades-old Utah murder case, revealing that serial killer Ted Bundy was responsible for the 1974 death of a teenage girl.

Laura Ann Aime, 17, vanished after attending a Halloween party on October 31, 1974. On April 1, the Utah County Sheriff's Office (UCSO) confirmed that Bundy was the killer, thanks to modern forensic advancements and thorough investigative work.

The breakthrough came through a combination of technological progress and a dedicated team working on the case. As the UCSO explained in their press release, "Existing evidence was submitted to the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services so we could utilize the various forms of advanced forensic sciences and professionals," adding, "The results were magnificent as they confirmed irrefutably that DNA evidence recovered from Laura's body verified the existence of DNA belonging to Bundy."

This cold case resolution demonstrates how improved forensic methods can finally bring justice to victims and closure to families, even when decades have passed since the crime.
