Terrorism is a threat to almost every country in the world, but how do you measure the extent to which a country is affected by terrorism? The Global Terrorism Index (GTI), produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), has attempted to do just this. The index is a comprehensive study analyzing the impact of terrorism in 163 countries every year.
The GTI scores each country on a scale from zero to 10, where 10 represents the highest measurable impact of terrorism, and zero represents no impact from terrorism. According to the latest report, terrorism-related deaths increased by 22% to 8,352, the highest level since 2017.
Click on to find the latest GTI results to understand which countries are currently most affected by terrorism, and take a moment to remember some of the most shocking acts of terrorism that have happened in these countries in the past.
