Indeed, much of what humanity categorizes as “recorded history” spans little more than the last five thousand years. In the 3rd millennium BCE, the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia had already been established for five millennia, while the state of Egypt had only just been created. But despite how distant these ancient societies may feel, their technology was impeccably advanced and able to pave the way for future generations to invent marvels of engineering.
