Environmental racism is a form of systemic racism whereby communities of color are exposed to more environmental dangers than others. It can take many forms, from workplaces with unsafe health regulations to citizens drinking contaminated groundwater and children attending dilapidated schools with asbestos problems. The Flint water crisis is a prime example of environmental racism, and, a decade after community activists discovered lead in Flint’s pipes, residents are still fighting for clean, affordable water for all.
