President-elect Donald Trump has issued a stern warning for Hamas, demanding the release of all remaining hostages before his inauguration next month. The message echoed his longstanding commitment to Israel and reinforced his previous calls for the return of hostages captured on October 7, 2023.
Trump's latest social media statement, suggesting that the US could take action against Hamas, followed an announcement from the Israeli Defense Forces on Monday that US-Israeli citizen Omer Neutra had died during the October 7 attack and that Hamas was holding his body in Gaza.
A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect recently, after 14 months of fighting. However, just a short while after the deal was brokered by France and the US, it is already under threat.
