The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a landmark document outlining the fundamental rights and freedoms that belong to all people, everywhere. Adopted by the United Nations on December 10, 1948, in response to the atrocities of World War II, it represents a global commitment to freedom, equality, and dignity. The UDHR was crafted by a diverse committee of representatives from various countries, cultures, and political systems, reflecting a shared commitment to human rights. Today, it remains the foundation for international human rights law, outlining 30 rights.
