The US and France facilitated a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which came into effect on Wednesday at 4 am local time (2 am GMT). Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the ceasefire should last for 60 days, but warned that "the duration of the ceasefire depends on what will happen in Lebanon. In full understanding with the United States, we maintain full military freedom of action. If Hezbollah violates the agreement and tries to arm itself, we will attack. If it tries to renew terrorist infrastructure near the border - we will attack."

Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati welcomed the ceasefire deal, calling it a "fundamental step towards restoring calm and stability." Displaced citizens have now started to make their way home to southern Lebanon as the Israel-Hezbollah truce deal is holding. Click through to see the images.
