King Charles III will become the first British monarch in modern history to publicly disclose his personal tax bill, with the figures set to be released on June 25 as part of the annual royal financial accounts. Buckingham Palace said the move reflects the King's commitment to modernization and greater transparency, following growing calls for more openness around royal finances.

The published figures will include taxes paid on income from sources such as the Duchy of Lancaster, private investments, and estates including Sandringham and Balmoral. The Duchy generated about £24 million (approximately US$32 million) in profits last year, providing much of the monarch's personal income. Although British monarchs are not required to pay income or capital gains taxes, Charles does so voluntarily.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said the decision is part of a broader effort to make royal finances easier for the public to understand. "To put it simply, we continue to modernize and evolve," the spokesperson said. The tax disclosure will be released alongside details of the Sovereign Grant, the public funding that supports the Royal Household.
