More than 30 people were charged on October 23 in two related federal gambling investigations involving the NBA and organized crime. Among those charged were Chauncey Billups, a Hall of Fame player and head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier.

Federal officials said the investigations uncovered long-running schemes involving insider betting on NBA games and nationwide poker rings that were illegally manipulated. According to FBI Director Kash Patel, the operations generated tens of millions of dollars through wire fraud, money laundering, extortion, and illegal gambling.
