A new scientific study reports that climate change played a significant role in the hot, dry conditions that fueled the devastating LA fires.
According to World Weather Attribution, an organization renowned for linking extreme weather to climate change, these conditions were about 35% more likely due to global warming. The study also noted that LA’s wildfire season is lengthening, while the rainfall that typically helps extinguish fires has decreased.
While multiple factors contribute to wildfires, researchers are confident that rising temperatures are making LA more susceptible to intense fire events.
The recent LA wildfires are on track to be among the most destructive and costliest in US history. Click on to see the images.
