In the same way that the term "ragebait" refers to content created to anger its audience, the term "sadbait" refers to videos and pictures posted to social media with the aim of making people feel sad. Although it may not sound particularly appealing as a genre, in fact sadbait is a hit across a wide range of social platforms. Indeed, there are a number of reasons that humans are attracted to melancholy-inducing content.
