It was
American author and journalist Walter Isaacson who suggested naming the 2000s the "Decade of Disruptions." He did so as reference to a series of exceptionally turbulent events that occurred between 2000 and 2009. Some of these incidents—the
September 11 terrorist attacks, for example—would define the world we live in today. But there were also several devastating military conflicts and catastrophic natural disasters that helped describe the decade. The world of arts and entertainment also experienced upheaval, most notably perhaps with the release by Apple of the iPod, which helped revolutionize the way we listen to music.
