According to Eurostat, recycled materials make up just 11.8% of the European Union’s total material use. To reduce dependence on primary raw materials and their environmental impacts, the EU’s 2020 Circular Economy Action Plan aims to double this share by 2030. Achieving this goal requires stronger national policies, innovation, and investment in recycling infrastructure. Some countries are leading the way, while others have barely started.
