Dozens of serial killers emerged during this period to spread fear and panic across the Golden State. Their heinous crimes, often involving despicable acts of violence, made international headlines due in part to the sinister sobriquets many went by, nicknames such as the "Zodiac Killer" and "Night Stalker."
