Every year, the independent organization Germanwatch releases the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), a ranking that evaluates how effectively countries are addressing the climate crisis. The 2025 report analyzes 64 nations responsible for 90% of global emissions, scoring them across 14 indicators divided into four categories: greenhouse-gas emissions (40%), renewable energy (20%), energy use (20%), and climate policy (20%). Performance ratings range from “very high” to “very low,” revealing striking contrasts between global climate leaders and laggards.
