Washington, D.C., is the federal capital of the United States, where the president and the government sit. An attack on landmarks such as the White House or the US Capitol represents an attack on the heart of America. Over the years, some movies have depicted such catastrophic events. Both the White House and the Capitol have been attacked, shot at, blown up, and sometimes even left in ruins.
From alien invasions to terrorist attacks and apocalyptic disasters, in this gallery we remember the times when the White House and the Capitol were destroyed in movies. Click on.
