On July 29, Tomi Adeyemi, author of the novel ‘Children of Blood and Bone,' which is being adapted into an upcoming Paramount film, posted a video sharing that she left the film set sobbing. She called the adaptation "the worst thing I have ever had to live through" and said that she never wants to hear about the project again.
Adeyemi also claimed that she is "still being antagonized behind the scenes," adding that this has been the reality she's had to live with for around a year and a half. According to the author, no one involved in the project has tried to make things better.
Adeyemi co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming adaptation. She had also previously said that she wouldn’t watch the movie after having been on set for its production.
Indeed, adapting a book into a movie is a common practice. However, accurately portraying an author’s original vision on screen can often prove challenging. While there’s a great number of book-to-film adaptations that won Oscars and/or became cult classics, many others flop at the box office and are quickly forgotten.
