It's a great year for black cinema, with more than a dozen significant nominations, and now wins, at the 91st Academy Awards. 'Black Panther' and 'BlacKkKlansman' have especially turned up big, and there were also notable nominees in the acting and directing categories. The Oscars managed to make some positive history, fittingly during Black History Month.
