In a career spanning more than 20 years, Irish actor Colin Farrell has had some memorable roles. From Oliver Stone's 'Alexander' (2004) to Yorgos Lanthimos' 'The Lobster,' (2015) Farrell has made his mark on the Hollywood circuit.
And he's not done yet! Farrell's role in 'The Banshees of Inisherin' (2022) has proven to be a smash hit and a favorite in the awards circuit. Farrell just earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his lead role, and the film earned eight other nods as well: Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Director (Martin McDonagh), Best Supporting Actor (for both Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan), and Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon).
The film already took home three major awards at the Golden Globes:Best Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor in a Comedy for Farrell. "I never expect my films to find an audience, and when they do it's shocking for me," he said in his acceptance speech, where he also sung his praises for co-star Brendan Gleeson. The film is set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland and tells the story of two friends who have a falling out after one decides abruptly to end their relationship.
