'The Batman' (2022)
- Robert Pattinson starred in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' (2022). Reeves promised an "emotional Batman movie” that is radically different from anything we've seen before, and boy did he deliver. The film noir style and Pattinson's gloomy, tortured portrayal turn the superhero classic on its head, and some say it's not even a superhero movie. Regardless, the critics were unanimous and 'The Batman' was a hit, with a sequel on the way and Oscar nominations to its name.

Who is the best Batman of them all?
'The Flash' trailer reintroduces Michael Keaton’s Batman during the 2023 Super Bowl
©
BrunoPress

The newest trailer for hotly anticipated DC superhero film 'The Flash' aired during the 2023 Super Bowl, featuring a major character reveal. Joining Ezra Miller's Barry Allen/Flash is Michael Keaton's Batman. You first hear only Keaton's voice asking Miller, “You can go anywhere. Another timeline, another universe. So why do you want to stay and fight to save this one?” before Miller replies, "Because this is the one where my mom lives." Then in the middle of the trailer we get the first full glimpse at Keaton’s return as Batman in his iconic long-eared Batsuit— the first time he's donned the suit on screen in 30 years. Ben Affleck's Batman also appears in the trailer, sporting more of a distinguished Bruce Wayne look. We'll have to wait till June to see how well the Batmans do.
We've had so many Batmans throughout cinematic history that a while back the Hollywood Reporter ran a poll to discover how they ranked amongst fans. Michael Keaton ranked in the top two, just one percentage point off Christian Bale. But what do viewers think about the other Batmen? While it’s clear the Zack Snyder-directed era starring Affleck had very poor results (i.e. bombed at the box office), he’s surprisingly not people’s least favorite!
In the meantime, let's take a look at the best (and worst) actors who have played Batman so far.
