Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland was found dead after an accidental overdose in his tour bus in 2015 at the age of 48. Six years later, Dark Pictures is reportedly in development on 'Paper Heart,' a movie based on the life of the legendary musician.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dark Pictures and Orian Williams have acquired the book rights to Weiland's memoir, 'Not Dead & Not for Sale,' which was written with David Ritz. Jennifer Erwin, a huge Stone Temple Pilots fan and co-founder of Dark Pictures, will pen the script for the moving rock n' roll film adaptation of Weiland’s life, from battling addiction to his triumphant comebacks.
"It's an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him—the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be,” Erwin said in a statement.
