The latest getting the musical treatment is the immensely popular HBO series 'Game of Thrones,' based, of course, on the novels by George R. R. Martin. For eight seasons, fans fell in love with the brutal drama of kings and queens, knights and peasants, and now that journey will take its next steps onto the stage.
The beloved series will be reimagined as a musical will which appear on Broadway, in London's West End, and in Australia by 2023, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will dramatize a pivotal event in Westeros history, 16 years before the events in 'GoT,' and though no characters have been confirmed, there are rumors of fan-favorites like Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister returning.
