'The Matrix Resurrections': do fourth films work?
The highly anticipated film is out today, and critics have a lot to say
© BrunoPress
'The Matrix' is easily one of the most famous films ever made. It inspired dozens of rip-offs, and extreme slow-motion moments spread across Hollywood thanks to that iconic scene. The fourth movie in the series was announced in 2019, and finally on December 22, 2021, Keanu Reeves returns to the screen as Neo in 'The Matrix Resurrections,' alive and well.
Though the film was highly anticipated, there are also many people who had a healthy concern about the success of a fourth film. Critics are already weighing in on the flick, directed by Lana Wachowski instead of the usual Wachowski-sister duo, and though it's decked out with Hollywood effects and dripping in nostalgia, it's also not quite living up to the hype.
Before you get out there and see for yourself, click through to take a look at the fourth film in various franchises, evaluating if they are classic continuations or unnecessary sequels. Click through the gallery to get started.
