Adam Sandler is one of those comedic actors that is often loved or hated. With his own particular brand of humor, he's created hilarious films that have stood the test of time, along with critical flops that no one remembers (and for good reason). Though he now seems to be on the upswing, with widely acclaimed releases such as 'Uncut Gems' (2019) and 'Hustle' (2022), his film career reads like a ratings rollercoaster.

That rollercoaster was deemed worthy of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on March 27, as Sandler accepted the honor in the company of all the comedy greats he has worked with and inspired. The likes of Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Chris Rock, Conan O'Brien, Idina Menzel, Steve Buscemi, Ben Stiller, and more helped celebrate the actor at the ceremony in Washington, DC, while getting in more than a few jabs about his biggest flops too.

Sandler closed the show with his own hilarious speech: "Thank you for creating a delusional, psychotic man who is now the proud owner of the 2023 Mark Twain Award for athleticism, math, sexual prowess, guitar virtuosity, and best cheeks smell. Good night, keep lying to yourselves everybody, and God bless America."
